MV Emperor Orion dive boat review

Recently merged with the Emperor Fleet, the Orion is a 41 meters liveaboard sailing in the Maldives. Indeed, the luxury dive boat is taking some of the best Maldivian dive sites on it’s route. Built in 2009, the Emperor Orion was last upgraded in 2012.

.

Boat Cabins & Layout

The Orion can welcome a maximum of 24 divers in 12 luxurious cabins. There are seven standard cabins, among which 4 feature either a twin or double bed and 3 have one queen bed. Moreover, on the upper deck you will find the “mini-suites”, which are slightly bigger than a standard room, and have a double/twin bed possibility. Finally, there are two suites, the junior suite (pictured below) is located on the lower deck while the Executive suite is on the upper deck.

Every cabin comes with it’s own en-suite spacious bathroom plus a television, plenty of wardrobe space and individually controlled air-conditioning.

The Orion can somewhat compare to it’s newer sistership, the Emperor Serenity. The Orion being 41 meters long, welcomes 24 divers while the Serenity is 40 meters long and welcomes 26 divers. The Serenity is newer but the Orion has been well maintained, ugraded and goes beyond the standards!

2 liveaboard reviews for “MV Emperor Orion”

  1. Hi divers!
I’m considering going back on the Orion, I was on a Manta madness with them years ago, when they were with the constellation fleet. So now I’m wondering if it changed a lot as they changed of fleet ? The Emperor doesn’t sound like a human sized company if you see what I mean. Anyways, I would love any recent updates on the Orion. My experience was fantastic so I’m very keen on booking it but thought I should double check when I noticed then changed hands.

    Thanks!

  2. If you care about AC do not go on this boat. Only the diningroom/salon has reasonable AC. The cabins have swamp coolers that are not effective especially in upstairs cabin.
